Description:
The backcolor time uses the standard colors of our club's timer: Green, Yellow, and Red.
There are four additional backcolors: White, Pink, Violet, and Blue
The sequence is this:
White displays for the stopped clock or the just started clock.
Pink displays when you can start speaking.
Violet displays when you have reached the grace period before the
Green color.
Green displays when you have reached the minimum length of your speech.
Yellow displays when you have reached the midpoint between min and max.
Red displays when you have have reached the maximum length of your speech.
Blue displays when you have passed the grace period at the end of your speech.
Note, I put in a delay which allows you to click start on the timer then collect yourself before starting to speak. I also put in a delay for after you stop speaking. You can calmly walk to the computer to click Stop.
The display will show the actual speech time with delays for clicking stop/start removed.
In the lower left hand corner of the screen, the readout will show the actual time from Start click to Stop click.
Setup:
In the Toastmasters description for the Ice Breaker speech, there is the bullet "TIME: Four to six minutes". This defaults to the Evaluation TIME.
• Put 4 in the Min Minutes box
• Put 6 in the Max Minutes box
Each speaker has a grace period before and after each speech, evaluation or table topic.
• Put 15 in the Grace Seconds box if this is an evaluation or a table topic.
• Put 30 in the Grace Seconds box if this is a speech.
Each person needs some time at the start of the speech from the time the "Start" button is clicked and the person is in position to start speaking. Likewise, each person needs some time from the end of the speech to the time the "Stop" button is clicked. This value will be subtracted from the computers time to show you the actual length of the speech.
Choose a value which gives you plenty of time at both the beginning and the end of the speech. Start speaking when the screen turns pink. When you are finished speaking, count the seconds as you move to the mouse then click.
• Put this value in Delay Seconds.
